Last 11th and 12th of May, the international symposium “The payment method users facing e-fr@ud. Practical responses to users in times of crisis” took place welcoming a large number of people.

In this symposium, the current situation regarding the lack of protection for European consumers was dealt with as the regulation protecting them is poor and based on rules that were established 20 years ago. A constructive debate was created where interesting conclusions and feasible solutions for consumers were drawn as well as ways of intervention to face criminals, which can stimulate cooperation among all agents and actors in the world of payment methods.

Speakers from all sectors involved in fraud issues regarding payment methods participated in the different discussion tables: the Spanish police force, Mossos d' Esquadra (police force of Catalonia), the Italian police force, the Romanian police force, the Slovakian police force, representatives from consumers associations, the Banking Ombudsman of Catalonian, lawyers specializing in this issue, representatives from security companies, the coordinator of INTECO e-fraud area, representatives of banking entities and ADICAE technicians.
