Consumers are generally bombarded by new technologies and specifically bombarded by new payment methods: credit cards, transfers, electronic banking, mobile payment, electronic money, etc.... When the possibility of contracting these services is advertised, only benefits are reported, however how to use them correctly is not explained. Besides, do we know the risks we are exposed to when contracting these payment methods? Do you know banks or savings banks offering these payment methods are exempt from responsibility when you become a victim of fraud?.
ADICAE, the only Spanish consumers´ association specializing in Banks, Savings Banks and Insurance, concerned with the lack of protection for users of these payment methods, faces and takes part, together with other European consumers´ associations, in the international project “Creation of a technical European catalogue on fraud available for legal authorities and police forces based on an alert and information network provided by entities and citizens” subsidized by the European Commission. Informing and alerting users of these payment methods about the risks they are facing is the main purpose in order to make the correct use of those and therefore to avoid fraud, something rapidly spreading nowadays. Besides, all information gathered will be available in an exhaustive catalogue for authorities and other bodies so that they can take the appropriate measures to stop this problem.
